Black Leopard in Pench is the key attraction of Pench National Park. Pench National Park is in southern Madhya Pradesh. 60% of the National Park’s trees are teak, with the remaining 40% being mixed woodland. Collarwali, a tiger who gave birth to 29 pups, brought the park to public prominence. She died of old age aged 16 in 2022.

Tour of Black Leopard in Pench Safari

The southernmost part of Madhya Pradesh is home to one of the many national parks that can be found in India: the Pench National Park. Teak accounts for sixty percent of the park’s tree population, while the remaining forty percent is made up of a mixed forest that also contains garadi, palash baheda, saj, jamun, and many more species. The name of the National Park was originally brought to the attention of the general public by a tiger mother named Collarwali. She is the current holder of the Guinness World Record for having produced the greatest number of cubs in her lifetime, with 29. Her death from old age occurred on January 15, 2022, when she was just 16 years old.

The park has recently gained a lot of interest due to the appearance of a melanistic leopard known as the Black Panther. In the year 2020, there was a male leopard in the area that appeared to be entirely black all over, but he was unable to remain there for very long. As a consequence of this, he was expelled from the tourist area, and he subsequently established his own domain.
terrain that is not part of the area that is frequented by tourists. Since the month of June 2022, a girl with a dark appearance has been seen roaming the Teliya and Khursapar section of Pench National Park. Since a few of months ago, there has been an almost daily occurrence of sightings of the same thing.

The vast majority of the Mowgli characters, including the Black Panther in his role as Bagheera, the Sloth Bear in his role as Balu, the Tiger in his role as Sher Khan, the Wolves in their roles as the Pack of Akela and Racksha, Kaa in his role as an Indian Rock Python, and a great number of other characters, are still present in this itinerary, which will take you to Mowgli Land. Consequently, let’s go adventuring in Mowgli Land.

Nature Safari India organized our private 2 Weeks Safari in Central India plus a couple of Sightseeing and we are very happy to having choose this agency. I found them on the responsible tiger tourism association (TOFTigers) and I liked them from the very first contact. From the first email more than two years ago to the end of our trip in April 2022, the service was great, the selection of the itinerary, Parks, lodges and guides was perfect. And this although the very difficult travel situation due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Our trip had to be postponed and rescheduled twice (we were supposed to travel at the end of March 2020), Mr. Deepkul was always very professional, competent, responsive and helpful with all my requests and he went the extra mile. We had a wonderful time in India, we saw a lot of tigers and wildlife, and we hope to come back soon. We warmly recommend Nature Safari India to everyone and in the future, we’ll surely book another tour with them.

We did 5 days of safaris with Sharad Vats's team, in Kanga and Pench, in April 2022. Right from the planning to the actual execution, Sharad was accessible, knowledgeable and helpful, to ensure we got a good experience. Not only was the itinerary planned and tweaked multiple times to suit us, but our accommodation and food needs were also taken care of well. We enjoyed the trip immensely, especially because Sharas understood that we were not just after tiger sightings, but enjoyed birds and trees and other wildlife too, and recommended an itinerary accordingly. The accommodation and food was great. And my particular need of a wifi connection even in these remote areas (because there was a study commitment I could not miss) was also met. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing and totally unforgettable trip to India organised by Nature Safari India, in particular Deepkul (and previously Manjeet). I organised the trip 2 years ago just as the pandemic hit, I had been communicating with Nature Safari India constantly for quite a few months until we finalised on an itinerary, nothing was too much trouble and replies to queries were almost instant. When it came to the actual holiday, all we had to do was get to New Delhi. (As a warning it isn't straightforward to get visas anymore) From then on all was taken care of. We were met at the airport and were looked after from that point, including checking us into the hotel and providing a car and driver for our exclusive use until we left New Delhi. We were driven from each location by drivers who looked after us incredibly well, stopped/slowed down if we wanted to take pictures, they also pointed out interesting sites as we passed. If you have time, I would recommend travelling by car to different locations, as you see a lot more of India. Deepkul monitored us through our whole holiday, checking that we were OK, getting reports from each of our guides and making sure we were happy with our holiday. Our guides and drivers, throughout, were fantastic, so friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful and polite.

Detailed Itinerary: Black Leopard Safari Tour in Pench

Day 01 : Arrival in New Delhi

When you arrive in New Delhi, a representative from our organisation will be there to meet and greet you. They will then drive you to your hotel, where they will assist you in checking in. In addition to that, he will hand over and explain any documents that is required for the trip. A hotel is the place where one stays for the night.

Day 02: New Delhi – Nagpur – Pench National Park (100 km, 02 hr drive)

In the morning, after a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the airport so that you may board a flight to Nagpur. Our representative and driver will be waiting for you at the airport in Nagpur so that they can welcome you and transport you to the Pench National Park. Once you’ve arrived, check in at the hotel. After lunch, you will go on a vehicle safari within the National Park. A meal and a place to sleep were provided at the Pench lodge.

Day 03: In Pench National Park

Safari rides in jeeps to the Teliya region in the morning and afterward. Due to the fact that the females’ region is situated in the Teliya and Khawasa zone, we will be conducting further exploration in those areas. There are also tigers living in the region, and their domain is very comparable to that of leopards.

In the southern part of India, a total land area of 758 square kilometres is home to both tropical dry deciduous teak and tropical wet deciduous forest. The majority of the streams and “nallahs” that run through this region only flow during certain times of the year. In spite of the fact that the Pench River stops flowing at the end of April, there are a number of drinking holes, also known as “dohs,” that provide a source of water for the local fauna. During this time of severe water shortage, the sole significant source of water is the Pench Reservoir, which is situated in the middle of the park. Stay the night at the lodge owned by the Pench.

Day 04 to 05: In Pench National Park

Your search for the rare Black Panther should begin bright and early in the morning, and you should begin by taking a vehicle safari through the Teliya or Khawasa zone.

The Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh is home to three of the most common types of deciduous forests found in the southern hemisphere: southern tropical wet deciduous, southern tropical dry deciduous, and southern dry mixed deciduous forests. The Pench Tiger Reserve is an excellent example of a forest that is predominated by teak trees (Tectona grandis), and it also contains bamboo and other species that are scattered throughout, as well as a dense understory of bushes and open grassy patches. After the safari, make your way back to the accommodation.

Continue with the safari once you’ve had some time to relax and enjoy lunch. The Pench Tiger Reserve is home to a diverse population of animals, including the gaur (Bos gaurus), the sambar (Rusa unicolor), the chital (Axis axis), the wild pig (Sus scrofa), the barking deer (Muntiacus vaginalis), the four-horned antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis), and the chinkara (Gazella (Canisaureus).

Stay the night in the lodge owned by the Pench.

Day 06: Pench – Nagpur – New Delhi (100 km, 2 hrs drive)

Jeep safari at the National Park in the morning. Transfer to the airport following a leisurely lunch in order to catch a flight to New Delhi. Transfer to the hotel after arrival. Spend the night at the New Delhi hotel.

Day 07: New Delhi-Fly home

Morning after relaxed breakfast check-out from the hotel and transfer to the airport to board a flight to home or onwards journey.

Note: The driving hours given above from one city to another are based on the normal conditions of the roads and may vary.  Any break for Food / Tea / Toilets / Sightseeing on the way will take extra time than the above given hours.
